Leena lives in Torgrand, one of the several lands of the Little Earth. She is a peculiar girl who fishes beneath the waves with the aid of a strange suit, providing for herself and her father.

One day, Leena awakens to find her entire village swallowed by a turbulent sea. According to an old legend, the waters are kept calm and low by a hidden gem—Nonanteres, buried deep in the ocean. Without it, the sea rises in fury.

The village chief, Mentor, declares that the guardian spirit of Torgrand has chosen someone to retrieve the gem: Kantar, Leena’s father. But Kantar, once a great diver, has been broken by an accident and can no longer undertake such a perilous task. Against tradition, Leena secretly decides to take his place.

Her quest will lead her across many lands. A mysterious thief seeks to harness its power for dangerous and forbidden magic, far away on the Little Earth.

Though small and defenseless, Leena is determined. To succeed, she must awaken long-dormant entities—ancient beings who alone can grant her the strength and skills to face the challenges ahead. Along the way, she will confront the prejudice of other peoples, who still despise Torgrand as the homeland of the ruthless sea-pirates of legend. To them, she must prove that she and her village are not plunderers, but simple fishers.

As Leena journeys forward, she slowly uncovers that the flooding of Torgrand is but one event in the vast and mysterious history of the Little Earth—a history in which she herself may play a greater role than she ever imagined.
